Braco Dimitrijevic hat die Hinterfragung von Berühmtheit und historischer Bedeutung zu einer der Leitfragen für seine Arbeit erklärt.

In den 1970er Jahren hängte er Portraits und Namen von unbekannten Menschen an Hausfassaden. Auf großformatigen Bannern und Plakaten erschienen Passanten, die er zufällig an diesen Orten auf der Straße getroffen hatte. Anlässlich der Ausstellung im alten historischen Museum im Jahr 2017/18 wiederholte Dimitrijevic das Verfahren und präsentiert es nun mehr zu einer völlig veränderten Zeit.

Auf der Fassade des alten Museums und auf einer Hauswand gegenüber dem Museum Abteiberg ist nochmals das historische Foto des Herren ERICH HOEFER zu sehen: Angesichts dessen, dass im 21. Jahrhundert Fotos und Namen von gewöhnlichen Menschen allgegenwärtig geworden sind, ist dieses Foto ein Dokument aus einer sehr fernen, völlig anderen Epoche.

Die neue Jahresgabe verbindet Dimitrijevics Interesse an dem – bis heute unbekannt gebliebenen – Passanten Erich Hoefer mit der zweiten Ebene von Dimitrijevics Gedanken: Es geht nicht nur um die Frage, wer aus der Masse der Menschen heraustritt, sichtbar und öffentlich bekannt wird, sondern auch um die Frage, welche Menschen historisch bedeutsam werden, wer in Erinnerung bleibt, wichtig ist, Geschichte schreibt.

Das Museum Abteiberg besitzt zwei Werke aus der Reihe "This Could be a Masterpiece", in denen u.a. Leonardo da Vinci auftritt. Dimitrijevics Edition im Jahr 2017 zitiert mit dem großen Maler und Druckgrafiker Albrecht Dürer auch den Druck selbst, der als Siebdruck mit Typografie zwischen den Zeiten steht und fast Pop Art wird.
